Sutter-Meyer Society Annual Meeting 2025

The society held our annual meeting on May 5th, 2025, at the Julia Goldstein Early Childhood Center in University City, MO. The meeting was called to order with approval of officers and an operating budget for the 2025-2026 year. The guest speaker was Andy Hahn, author of Mapping St. Louis, director of the Campbell House Museum, and a 7th-generation St. Louisan who has been passionate about history and maps since he was a child. He presented a fascinating lecture on maps of St Louis.

Tour the Farmhouse

In May 2025, three classes of kindergarteners from Pershing Elementary School in University City, MO, toured the Sutter-Meyer Farmhouse. The students had a wonderful day learning about the old farmhouse and what life was like on the farm back in the 1870s. They played games and learned songs from that time period. The students also toured the house, finding the artifacts most interesting and peppering the tour guides with many questions.

In August 2022, the Sutter-Meyer Farmhouse hosted five tour groups from "St. Louis Historic Sites Meetup.” The meetup group arranges tours at historic sites around St. Louis for interested members.

Two groups toured on Friday, August 19, and another three groups toured on Saturday, August 20. The tours on Friday were led by board members Esley Hamilton and Chris Blumenhorst. The tours on Saturday were led by board members Bill Meyers and Chris Blumenhorst. Each tour group consisted of about 10 meetup members, for a total of close to 50 people who toured.

The visitors were very pleased with the tour, asking many questions. They even gave Bill Meyers a standing ovation at the end! And the Farmhouse never looked better.
